You’re an everyday hero for Vincent. Vincent left Chicago to follow love to Indianapolis. When that didn’t work out and he lost a holiday job at Amazon, he found himself homeless and turned to Wheeler Mission for help. There he found Back on My Feet and started walking. Vincent had a heart condition that kept him from running at first, but it wasn’t long before he improved his health enough to start a run/walk. Working his way up to a run, Vincent has completed six half marathons and the full Monumental Marathon. This fall Vincent ran the 2016 Bank of America Chicago Marathon and gave back by raising money for Back on My Feet! Vincent found out he no longer needed heart surgery and his condition had healed itself after being active through running.

Vincent also started working as a staff custodian at IPS/Butler University Laboratory School 60 and was promoted to the assistant head custodian. When his boss retires in 2017, Vincent will take over the role of Head Custodian! Vincent has been in his own apartment for more than two years.

You encouraged Vincent take those first steps in his size 10 running shoes and now he has taken flight.
